Stuipd Question

I was able to pretty much just start playing and figure out how it all works without much help from the manual at all, which again Developers PROPS!. I am an expirenced Gamer with lots of SSI titles under my belt. but I do have a question that someone can answer for me cause I am just to dumb to figure it out or find it in the manual.. Once I have built a facility on a planet how do I remove or replace it with something else I want to replace mineralminers with monolith can I do that or do I have to combat myself and kill it?

I am so impressed!

Hey what's Up,

Really this post is to the developers or Space Empires. Guys unbelieveable job. Just absolutely one of the greatest stragety games ever created. I am a gamer from back when fast computers were 33mhz and my games were on 5 1/4 disks. Spelljammer !!! SSI dudes what can I do for you ? You guy and your counter part in the game props to you as well. But man you all have it down from gameplay to UI (UI f'ing unreal perfect). I have been reading the posts and of course everybody is different and wants this and that but in my opinion SE V give you a easy way to do just about anything you want, and almost anyway you want. The meta score thing on steam kills me cause I have played half of the ones rated high and they just are nothing compared to SEV. What ever your doing, how ever you guys are doing it, don't change... Can't wait to see if you show up with a 6 of 7. Just don't do that EA, and other large developer thing that once they have it great all the 2's 3's etc suck. HAts off Love your game!

en lire plus

Tweaking the planet art without going all the way to FQM

In SE3 I could 100% reliably tell the atmosphere of a planet by looking at it.

In SE4 I had to learn a couple of exceptions, then I was good.

But in SE5 there are several cases where a planet with one atmosphere type at one size is indistinguishable from a different atmosphere type at a different size. The worst is Hydrogen and Methane gas giants, where I simply can't tell the difference most of the time, but there are also a couple of Oxygen/Rock planets that are yellow like CO2.

Has anybody else been annoyed enough with this to fix it?

What I'm dreaming of is somebody who has actually tweaked the art files in the main game directory, so regardless which mod you are running you get reliable visual ID on planet atmospheres.

en lire plus

Shipsets, Empires, and dead AIs

Is there any way to add a shipset that can be used by human players but that won't get picked for an AI, which then sits and does nothing until you conquer it?

I think I saw this even in stock, but it's a big problem using the BM because there's no chance at all that the AI scripts would be right.

The first time this happened, I figured it was a bad AI script so I deleted all the compiled scripts from the offending "Empires" subdirectories. I expected that the generic neutral race AI would be used. But it still happened. Am I on the right track, and I just have to delete some of the .txt files (racial settings, etc.) too?

en lire plus

Balance Mod suggestion

Captain Kwok,

This is a minor thing, but i suggest that the following ColonyTypes be added:

Solar Generation Colony
Storage Depot

I'm sure i could come up with some more, but I have been playing Crystaline lately and i use the first one in every trinary system i run across. And storage depots for every all mineral(org & rad) storage planet i have as well.

Modding Component Size Requirements

Is there a way(in stock and in BM) to restrict a ship component to:

a given hull type(frigate, dreadnaut, etc)
a hull size or larger(500kt+, etc)

The reason i ask is that I also believe that larger ships get the shaft over smaller ones and i'd like to create a set of larger ship components that do a much better job for a larger ship. A few ideas would be armor and shields that have more HPs or weapons with slightly better range for the equivalent tech.

Thanks,

Freighters

Does anyone actually use these hulls? I mean it would make sense if i could have it require that i fill the hull 50% with cargo OR ordinance OR supplies. But other than this, why bother? Does anyone ever transport that many people around?

Request for Devs - Empire Screen

Hi all,

I would find it useful if there was a fleet maintenance row. All maintenance is lumped together. It would be nice to know how much i was specifically spending on my fleets as opposed to infrastructure. This would then allow me to much easier plan how much more fleet maintenance i could afford for any up coming endeavor. Comments?

Thanks,

Site Layout and Maintenance

Sorry to say this, but I find the layout and maintenance of this site poor to the point that it's creating confusion. For instance, the home page shows that the latest DevNull mod issued is 1.66, but when one eventually finds the links (not easy, by any means) one fonds that the actual latest release is 1.71.3.1, which solves at lot of the problems.

Even when one does find the right place, it's still as confusing as hell: the only way to find out just what's availabl;e seems to be to through read the threads and pick up information about, for instance, FQM, multi-media, planet packs, etc. They aren't described in detail, so one doesn't know where thay are, what they do or it what combination of mods they can be used. Complete confusion and frustration for someone who comes to the site for the first time, or rarely.

en lire plus
