Fighter model question |
Hi, I'm starting to modify the models for the fighters, but after inserting the first model I changed I noticed that the game only seems to show a small, flat graphic for the fighter (I hadn't used them before now, so I hadn't noticed that yet). Is there some setting that lets you choose a graphic or a 3d model? Or is there some other setting I'm just not seeing? Any help would be appreciated.
No, he's right about it
No, he's right about it showing a sprite and not the fighter. It does the same for satellites too. It must be a process saving thing.
I'm guessing what you are seeing is probably the sprite from one of the .bmp files, try the one that has all the ship bmps in one file.
Your lord and master (below Foamy) LordHavoc

For units, the game uses
For units, the game uses sprites from the Empire_Unit_Combat_Texture.bmp file during space combat, but the .x models for the system display and ground combat. I don't know how to change this, but it is very annoying. For one thing, if you have fighter hulls that are radically different (interceptors vs bombers, for example) they are all displayed by only a single sprite in space combat, which makes it impossible to determine which is which.
At the very least we should be able to use different sprites for each.

In combat and on the system
In combat and on the system screen it uses the model, but fighters are very small so you have to zoom way in to see them. Elsewhere they are just a flat icon.
