Potential fix for hang during process all players turns |
I was having this problem a lot and it was always the same turn in any one game (i.e. might be turn 50 in one game or turn 100 or whatever but whatever it was in the same game it was always that turn)
I had a sneaking suspicion as to what it might be after a while so I looked in settings.txt and changed the combat only ends when all ships destroyed or time runs out (however it's worded) from TRUE back to the default of FALSE and lo and behold the game processed the sticky turn perfectly and game continued...
I believe what happens is that the AI doesn't respect the timer in AI vs AI battles and so if one ship runs away and is faster than the enemy ship(s) then the game will hang forever trying to resolve that fight with total destruction hehe.

Different problems
The hanging at processing is caused by a lot of different things, it seems. For me, a recent game hung there whenever I tried to do Sabotage - Planets & Colonies. Every fix is unique to the circumstances right now, but I'd suggest sending the save of any game that hangs to Aaron, at , and try to identify what the cause is, if you can.

Found another cause
Recently I was suffering the dreaded hang bug, and found out it was because I was spending ~170,000 research points on Starship Support, which was at level 1 at that point
I would've gotten more than 10 levels. It seems that that is the limit you can get in one tech at once before causing a hang at processing.
