Manipulation Only Goes So Far... |
Sometimes you just need to ride out the storm one moment longer to be the last man standing. Sometimes the storm tosses you out to sea. This is one of those time that perhaps, we should have stood our ground one more moment longer.
Was Delta fleet so incapable that it could not have stood up to those additional 40 frigates? All our commanders say yes, but the damage would have been pretty bad, but not so bad that the invasion could not have gone deeper into the Feltz'ah Empire. Yet, it has always been prudent to minimalize causualties and redouble our efforts, striking the enemy with such overwhelming force, that often not only the battle, but the war, ends as quickly as it starts.
Our efforts to recoup from our losses in the Antari system were slow due to our economic crisis. Research facilities were scrapped all across the empire to make room for resource mining and resource storage. This impacted our ability to continue to increase our technoligical edge, but the Keepers decided that the time for Research was past, and the time to put our technoligical might to use was at hand. So that we did.
To our surprise, the Feltz'ah Empire had some recent technological advances of their own. Our mine fields that we placed on the border of the Feltz'ah Empire and the Terra-Sphere, was by passed by Feltz'ah mine sweepers, and our satelite defense groups, thought to have been capable of crippiling the Feltz'ah fleet, found an enemy with Meson Blasters instead of Depleted Uranium cannons. It appears while we attempted to reconstitute our own fleet, the Feltz'ah had upgraded its fleet, and had decided to try its luck at invasion again.
The Feltz'ah met Beta Fleet in the Xanathos system for what appeared to by some sort of show down. However, old tricks no longer held water in this contest, and the main battle ship, and two cruisers came equiped with tachyon scanners.
The Feltz'ah came at us with their standard two fleets in flock formation, and our fleet in a Diamond defense. In the dance which was familiar and well studdied, the two enemy fleets circled and prepared to attack TF2 from two sides, while in the distance, cloaked drone ships and a select amount of frigates awaited the attack.
The surprise was now on our side.
Set as pickets, three cloaked, light carriers, quickly moved forward and unleashed hell upon the awaiting drone ships, tearing the drones and the drone carriers to shreds. Our destroyers, once designed for well, balanced, had been re-equipped with larger hulls and larger weapon mounts, quickly tearing the enemy suicide vessels to pieces. Vessels that made their way through to our capital ships found themselves caught in tractor beams, and torn to pieces by defensive fighters moments later.
The battle for Xanathos was over as quickly as it started. The enemy fleet was erradicated, and only 2 frigates and a destroyer were sent back to the ship yard for repair. The opportunity had come for Beta Fleet to launch into the Antari system, and complete the integration of Feltz'ah Empire.
To our surprise, Beta Fleet encountered only light resistance as it moved from planet to planet, system to system, capturing each and holding with a massive amount of soldiers. It appears that the Feltz'ah Empire could not reconstitute fast enough to resist our invasion. Planet after planet fell, until the leader of the Feltz'ah Empire formally surrendered, and thus joined into the Tera Sphere.
With the union came some revalations that would prove costly to our dear friends, the Anakar Consortium. Now we knew how the Feltz'ah was able to build and sustain so many ships, as well as how they gained the technology to develop a more powerful weapon. Perhaps it was time to play a game of payback.
Unforunately for the Anakar, after the defeat of the Feltz'ah Empire, we were able to refit our colonies and begin producing enough resources not only to constitute three fleets, but enough to constitute 5 fleets. Our colonies had moved close to the edge of the Anakar. Our intelligence agents, finally capable of making headway into the Anakar Consortium, numbered their star systems as a meagerly 12 systems, while ours was mightily at 50. The time has finally come to bring the Anakar into the Tera-Sphere, or be washed off the slate of history.
Beta, Delta, and Iota fleet has now been dispatched on the our common borders and about to enter their space. It is only matter of time before the invasion begins, and as well all know, will end just as quickly as it started. Perhaps we will offer them a diplomatic solution....

Excellent
Great story Antirelic, 50 systems...yeesh!
Excellent, payback for their
Excellent, payback for their unreasonably tough treaty negotiations.
Your lord and master (below Foamy) LordHavoc
Still curious...
I'm just wondering if all the little tactical details you put into your story are actually happening in game, or are some of them made up. Again, if they are, all the cloacking, tractor beams, drones, ramming, etc, then this game ROCKS!
Thanks,
Javaslinger

Yet another great story
Three segments, three great stories, and I know the last one will be great. I hope you take the time to make more about future battles you fight
