quick start? |
Hello there. I wanted to start a single-player game without using the quick start. Whenever I do this, I have to pick each computer player's smallest detail; the name, race, picture, ship icon, ect. Is there a function that I missed where I can just say how many computer players I wanted, without having to set each one up individually? Thanks!

Don't bother
You don't have to pick anything about the computer players. In the empire screen, one of the options is Automatically Create Computer Controlled Empires, which defaults to on. Although, you don't know how many it will stick in, you don't have to manually set anything up.

With all these people, you would expect one of them to carry an iguana around...
You're right... Misread OP
Sorry, you're right.... I gave instructions about how to "roll up" a stock empire for the human player -- computer players don't require such TLC, though it does allow you to set your opponents to use other stock empires.
By the way, it may help balance and make for a tougher game to ensure that all active empires are of similar types: say, rock/O2.

Load save empire
It's a little tricky, but all you need to do is save a bunch of empires to be later loaded.
The way to do this is to open a quick start game, then save the empire you choose, then open a new, non-quick start game, and retrieve that empire.
Of course somebody could make it easy and post the .emp files here for downloading.
