Communication problems?

Soumis par Chris_W le Sam, 2006-10-21 08:11 Space Empires V General

Out of everything in SEV, it seems that communications related things, politics and the like, are quite simply the least finished aspect of the game. The times I've run into script tags, questionmarks and loopholes there is tremendous.

Everything related to treaties, requests and demands and alliance chamber is very, very buggy. Alliance relations button crashes the game every time.

Then I hope AI will get some tweaks. The treaties they offer me are ridiculous at times, -really- make no sense and leave the impression as if AI randomizes treaty elements. Then getting responses to treaties you've offered won't happen until next few turns and even then in Log, which is very akward in my opinion.

Also everything that can be offered to another race should have a check of some sort if it -is- possible in the first place. I mean, what's the point of offering to join an alliance that doesnt even exist? It only adds confusion.

Also, I have -yet- to see another alliance member actually vote in alliance chambers.

The whole system regarding treaties, AI related to treaties and alliance chamber needs some serious fixing. My recommendations would be to give AI some sort of logic in the treaties they offer (even making number of preset treaties they offer would be a way to go, triggered by certain conditions, aka why tell another race not to blow up stars if they even have no such technology?).

Then to somehow make it more obvious how to discuss politics with another race. I mean, I have direct link, I can then also send the same things through alliance chamber, and THEN also -propose- some message through alliance chamber. None of this makes any sense, while sure I, as individual race, could work out something with another race, and as Alliance could do the same, it confuses me why theres a third option in the midst.

Not to mention I've yet to find a way to add new empires into the Alliance. I can send them Join Alliance but it never defines the alliance in the script.

At this moment I think the system is just so overblown with too many features that step into loopholes and won't function in programming scripts, getting no response or showing some weird info like Alliance-tag in offer instead of a name and numerous other situations.

This whole section requires some serious fixing.
