Question about the suns and planets in systems... |
... How come the planets rotate, but the suns in the systems do not? The nebeula move, the planets move, hell even the fraggin rocks in orbit move... but not the suns. Is there anywhere that any other modders has seen that dictates the rotation speed (or a value that dictates that a object rotates), and if so can they post the file name and where in the text?
Thx,

They really move? so THAT's
They really move? so THAT's why I could never set up the system view to look the same...
...whatever...

What? The planets move? I've never seen that. Wierd...
Re: Question about the suns and planets in systems...
when he said "move" he meant how the rotates.

Re: Question about the suns and planets in systems...
Rotate meaning: Planets spin on their axis, not move around their star.

Re: Question about the suns and planets in systems...
Hmm, I wonder if you could script them to orbit their stars... would make pathfinding a nightmare, but if they orbited slowly enough... Is there a Set_Space_Object_Position that works on planets? I know you can move ships around like in the "ship gets teleported" event, but does that function work for planets???
Of course you'd have to do something about star bases then... maybe loose bases get caught up in the "gravity well" of any planets passing through their sector and follow them, and bases built at planets just follow automatically because they're already there?

Star Rotation
You want to edit the "Continual Rotation Speed" field in any of the star entries in XFileClasses_Stellar.txt data file.
