Please Help with SE5 1.74 |
I just bought this game, and it is version 1.74. The install looked OK, but when I start the game, there's NO text anywhere! I see that when I put my cursor over a menu item, a description box pops up, but it's empty! the menu tabs, and descriptions have no text, so I don't know what anything is for. The wierd thing is when I take the cursor off the SE5 window, the text on just the menu tabs then appears.
I updated my video drivers, and tried to patch the game - but since it's already 1.74, it won't let me.
The way it is, my game is completely unusable. Please help!

Can you verify if HelpText.txt is in the Space Empires V data folder?

What graphics card? ATI?
Using my 3870X2 I have to disable Catalyst AI and the text display is flickering in some windows. I reported it to Catalyst crew but that was 8.10 so it wont be fixed yet, but they did fix the last game I reported which was ORB so there is good reason to expect they can fix this too.
