Best weapons in stock 1.74 game? |

Just wondering if there was a concise list of the best weapons in the stock 1.74 game? I have Warp weapons and such but I wonder which areas are actually the best to research in other people's opinions?

One of the cool things in SEV is that weapons have uses. So there isn't a "best" weapon. There is a "best" weapon for a catagory or stratagie. For instance if you put your warp weapon on an attack ship you would spend all day trying to catch up with the ship that you just zapped out of your range again. But if you put it on a Satilite, with another long range weapon, you could make your opponent have to repetedly go through your long distant attack range.
Personally I like the supply stealing weapons, then couple that with boarding parties.

Best weapon??? One that takes out the other guy without letting him take you out...

Null Space weapons are pretty outstanding... as far as straight up damage dealing.

Now it was devnull but I have no reason to think it's that different in stock.
Ultimate weapon? Maxed out Shield inverters with massive mount.
When you start removing the enemy ships shields completely with one hit is good enough, only your enemy then uses plenty of armour and sheild regenrators, but then at the end game I tested out Base ship designs and as something to do I put maxed out shield inverters with massive mounts on them and tested it on the latest enemy design. WTF? ensured when with one shot my enemy's dradnought exploded. Seems how it works is it removes all the enmy shields and then does a certain percenatge of that to the enemy. By that stage I was at something approaching 150% strength. So, well you can imagine removing 2-3000 pts of shields and then doing 4500 damage to the ship.

In my last PBW my best battleships (by turn 80) could cough out over 10,000 points of damage every two seconds. The target's shields and armour (and internals
) became irrelevant. I only wished I could spread the shots around amongst multiple targets like in SE4. 
BTW - They were massively mounted Lightning Rays.

You could do manual targeting and stop the game every sew seconds and run the time slower....
Too bad your ship can't multi-target...
Or will it if your ship's strategy is for 50% damage or such...

Ships will target multiple targets, but you have to do editing of the default strategies. Dropping the targeted damage percent is a good way to go.

Owwww! That would require me to micro-manage my damage percent according to each one of my enemy's ship classes. Only a truly crazy hyper-anal micro-manager would ever do that!

Missiles.... better hit at range than up close and get hit back...
I also found a tactical combat tactic that allow me to take out 13 destroyers with 1 destroyer...
(But I had to exit and re-arm 3 times...)
It could be called a running retreat missile attack... and you gota be faster!!!
You gota ahead of the other ships, maybe just inside their weapons range, and keep their lead ship just inside your missile range... they advance into your missiles and out distance theirs...
I crippled 3 or 4 each time I re-entered battle...
(And did not get hit once!!!)
