Have treaty, but still attacked?

Soumis par ShatteredCiv le Mer, 2008-09-03 21:06 Space Empires V FAQs

Hi all, I have a treaty with a CPU player. It is named a Non-Aggression Treaty, but doesn't actually contain that Treaty Element. However, I can share repairs, and resupply depots. etc. When I enter a sector containing a planet with a resupply depot (his), or enter a sector containing a ship of the CPU player I have the treaty with, or if they land in a sector that contains my ships, I get attacked, or combat starts! Huh? Okay there's no Non-Aggression element, fine, but why don't I get the option to attack or refrain from attacking at the least? I mean if they stumble on my ships in a sector, why do my ships automatically assault their ships? How do I stop this? How do I stop them from attacking me, or for that matter if I do share Resupply Depots, how do I avoid setting off planetary defenses when I dock at their stations?!

Thanks in advance, much appreciated.

You need to have one of the non-aggression elements in the treaty - just having a treaty doesn't preclude combats.

Having shared repair and resupply is pointless without non-agression of some sort. Treaty name means nothing.

Yeah, well, seriously then, why enable the element if when you attempt to resupply, you're gonna get attacked? Wouldn't it be better just to grey out the option, until such an element was implemented?

Also, is there any way for me to enable an option to attack or not? If something comes through a Warp Gate, I don't necessarily want to attack it at all times.

Thanks guys so far for your answers.

There is no way to stop attacks against ships coming through a blockaded warp point. Aside from non-agression treaty, which allows any vehicle from the 'freindly' empire to pass through. Sooo. All or Nothing.
As for treaty options... it sometimes funny to grant the AI repair and resupply and then not let them get to your planets.... MWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

They can still use resupply depots....

right... cause resupply depots send supplies to all ships within the system...
but if you have the warp point bloackaded.. then they can't actually get into the system.... Sticking out tongue

It would be nice if the different treaty defaulted to preset options...
Then when you select the treaty, you see the selections...

Hope you canceled the treaty. In the future read the fine print. Smiling

As everyone else has said, the treaty name is just a name. You can use the presets or type your own names. You can even name it Tom, Dick, or Harry for all it matters. It won't create Toms, Dicks, or Harry's on anyones worlds. Smiling

The first treaty I got from an AI, back when, all my research points dropped to 0... took a few turns to find out why....
It would be nice if:
Trade Pact: defaults to trade selections...
Non-Intercourse Treaty: don't bug me, I wont bug you...
Subjugation Treaty: no trade, and "you" pay me x% of your empire...

Kinda like the earlier pacts....

Still, don't sign whatever the AI (or anyone else) gives you before you read it. Common sense. Smiling
