Sick of weak weapons being able to glass a planet. |
Im sick of weapons like a lvl one D.U.C killing like 2 million people in one shot. Ive looked at the data files and tried changing the population killed amount. Default is .05 but im unsure what a good amount is or if that means like .05 million people for every 1 point of damage. Any ideas how to fix this or a way of explaining it to me? Thanks

While your at it, change ALL weapons unable to target planets, except for Bombardment weapons. This way everyone has to research them to glass a planet.
The AI will be unable to compensate for this change, and will be less a challenge then usual.

Though I think I'm gonna increase the strength of the Ord/Supplies structure as its still too easy for a few ships to deplete a planet of all its supplies and ord in a combat.
This way it will take a fleet with bombard weapons and large/heavy mounts to glass a planet. Not a scout with a Duc.
All values are found in the settings.txt and much easier than altering all the differing weapons for planet target settings.

In the Components.txt
The Ship/base weapons section, find the weapon type, and change this line:
"Weapon Target Type List := Ship, Base, Planet, Fighter, Satellite, Drone"
to NOT include planet, like this :
Weapon Target Type List := Ship, Base, Fighter, Satellite, Drone
... repeat as necessary for all weapons you do not want targeting planets.

There should be some differentation between domed and non-domed planets when it comes to ship to planet combat. It should be easy to wipe out a domed colony and a lot of work to wipe out a non-domed colony.
As damage sits now, I think a colony is just rated by it population and the dome is just a population limiter instead of being a major liability in combat.
