Issues with Baseship combat pitures |
Is there a reason why every baseship picture has four identical sides? Its impossible to see which direction the ship is facing and its usually not facing the direction you wanted it to.
At minimum, can the system put a dot or something on the front facing of the ship?
At most, can shipyard designer make baseships with a front, a back and two sides, just like all the other ships?
And I hope that the size of the baseship picture and its corresponding occupation area in the combat screen are significantly reduced to put them in alignment with all the other ships. There is absolutely no reason why a 1500kt ship needs a picture that is eight times the size of a 1000kt ship. These things are bigger than many planets! What would a 4000kt worldship look like? Would it even fit on the combat screen?
Just wondering out loud.
Re: Issues with Baseship combat pitures
I must agree with Glock. I've added World ships to one of my mods. The size thing is a big annoyance....
Re: Issues with Baseship combat pitures
Found the scaling factors...
A BaseShip like this is much better...
VehicleSizes.txt
.....
Maximum Model Size := 20.0 (was 30 I think)
....
Also... battle zoom out not enough???
Settings.txt
...
Ground Combat Maximum Zoom Out Distance := 240.0 (was 40.0)
&...
Space Combat Maximum Zoom Out Distance := 290.0 ( was 9.0)
....
Any one see these???
Can See Comet From Memory := TRUE
Can See Monster From Memory := FALSE
Can See Debris From Memory := FALSE
Can See Derelict From Memory := FALSE
Can See Illusion From Memory := FALSE
Re: Issues with Baseship combat pitures
isn't there a scale factor somewhere in the data files??
When i used one for planet conquest, it got pummeled by the planet defences...
The missiles where hitting even before the point defences fired....

Re: Issues with Baseship combat pitures
Well baseships use the same model as starbases and it's pretty much traditional for starbases to look the same on all sides as they float in orbit. I had a game recently where we used baseships. For the whole game I was using a tactic where my ships stayed close together so they could combine PD. When I finally used 5 or 6 baseships they ended up stacking on top of each other and went off the screen.
