Can't run the game! |

How did you get that info?
How did you get that info? What makes you think that?
edit:
Considering that Aaron is a one man (and presumably english-speaking) team, wouldn't surprise me though.

And that thread doesn't even come CLOSE to answering my question. Closest thing is one person asking if "you have to be english or french" to run the game.

As I said, there was nothing
As I said, there was nothing in that thread to point to "only english". He doesn't know anymnore than we do why he was having trouble.
IN fact, the error looks more like it can't find some of its files, which doesn't seem (likely) to be a localization error.

Standard questions
Lets go through the standard support questions.
- Is your steam installed at C:\Program Files\Steam or is it installed at another place?
- Is the file the game is trying to access where it should be, can you open it through explorer?
- Are you running as a Administrator?
- Have you tried to scan your computer for Adware/spyware? I have encountered strange errors like this before but those solved themself once lavasofts Adaware and Spybot had been used.

Only English OS...NO!
Hey just my two cents...I live in Spain and so as you could guess, my OS is in Spanish...Works fine on my Comp.
As the post below is requesting...you need to give specific info about your comp and what is happening, if u want us to help you.

How does your HelpText.txt looks like, specifically the "Dlg Game Setup – Multiplayer 1 Name" part, try to search for it without the " in helptext.txt.
Mine looks like
Dlg Game Setup – Multiplayer 1 Name := some text
Dlg Game Setup – Multiplayer 1 Descr := some other text
The number goes up to 20 for me, from the picture it almost looks like you are missing those lines.
I uploaded my HelpText.txt to rapidshare, try to replace your copy with this one.

SE:V tested OK on non-english XP
We have conducted tests on with the Steam version of Space Empires 5 with the following versions of XP:
- French
- Spanish
- Russian
We were able to run the application and start a new game. Every indication shows that SE:V will run on international language versions of XP.

Hvae you tried...

Did you disable music yet?
I had problems getting this game to run as well. The only thing that got it to run for me is disabling the music. Not sure why this would work, as my soundcard has its updated drivers, but it did. Check the troubleshooting page at www.malfador.com for instructions on how to do this.

I can sort of run it
I get into my first turn and then it goes down faster than a lead weight in water >_<
