Linux + cedega? |
Anyone else tried to get SE5 Demo to run under Cedega for Linux? I have tried and have had no success getting it installed. I get the title screen of the installer, and nothing. If I copy the installed dir from my windows partition and run it from there, it eventually gets to the setup screen, but it takes forever and the graphics are all screwed up.
Anyone have any kind of success? MM, have any ideas or tips?

Would be awesome to play Space Empire V on Linux.
I really look forward to the day when games say Compatible to Linux.
Re: Linux + cedega?
Has anyone tried Wine? I was able to launch it with wine, but found to many issues, may be I used wrong libraries?
I wonder, is it posible to run it at Linux without full virtualization of windows.

Re: Linux + cedega?
What about the SEV for linux petition? (IIRC it was on the wine forums) Has it made any progress there? At least if SEV is number one that might compel them to look into it!

Re: Linux + cedega?
Thought I'd let you know of some progress being made on this front...
I got an email related to a bug I was watching on the Wine website - apparently someone with a similar problem with one of their games (xfiles don't load) was able to get it working by placing "d3dxof.dll" from a Windows installation into their Wine directory and telling Wine to use that DLL instead of its own implementation. I tried that with SE5, and while it wasn't perfect, it did allow me to see the system map! (The map unfortunately had a lot of stuff flickering in and out of existence as I rotated it, and the UI was still horribly slow, and I still had to disable the music in Settings.txt, but it's progress... I think the "UI is slow" issue is also being dealt with, though - the problem there is with "DIB blitting" and someone's working on a new DIB engine for Wine!)
