command troops? |
I've heard the suggestion that I create specialized troops: a meat shield troop with shields and armor, an assault troop with a big gun, and a command troop with ECM / battle computers. The person who suggested this said that the ECM/battle computer bonus would apply to all troops in that group.
I just did this in the battle simulator, and I did not see the ECM / battle computer benefits show up in the description of the meat shield/assault mechs. Does it actually work? Also, assuming the modifiers do apply, will they work if the command bots have no weapons, and so move away from the battle?
Playing SE5 v1.74 with Balance Mod v1.14b
Thanks!

Re: command troops?
Troops don't stack their abilities in SE5 as they did in SE4. They are separate individual vehicles. I don't believe weapon platforms stack either but I haven't check it out implicitly - I'm basing it on the fact they take damage individually and split their weapon's fire fairly well.
Re: command troops?
Well in a current game I built a bunch of WP and the planet attributes say only one sensor works for them all.
Re: command troops?
I presume you are talking about weapon platforms in space combat - where I guess it's possible. Shields on platforms do stack on the planet.

Re: command troops?
Having a stack of units like weapon platforms will share Targetting sensors if one has them, but I don't think individual units like troops share sensors when they have ground combat
