Windows Vista |
I would like to know if Space Empires V works on systems using Windows Vista.
Re: Windows Vista
Unless you use a dual+ core. Then you might have issues, unless you have the correct drivers installed for the CPUs.

Re: Windows Vista
Install it and try to run it? And make sure you have the correct drivers installed.
Re: Windows Vista
The manufacturer should have documentation on what drivers you need. If it didn't come with the computer you can probably find it on their website.

Re: Windows Vista
Sure about that, are you? Multiple CPU systems have many problems not related to threading. You may wish to read here:
Since neither you nor Aaron Hall can control the end user's choice of CPU, the advice given by marhawkman is sound.
Note that I do not have access to the source code of SE:V, nor the code of the DirectX API, so I cannot say with certainty that the issues described on the page linked above are applicable. Regardless, the advice is still good, as it may be applicable to other programs.
The demo is notoriously out of date, and cannot be patched to the latest version.
Re: Windows Vista
You can try the demo anyways. It will provide a small amount of information at least.
I mentioned the Dual core issue as people have reported problems with it in the past.
See here: http://spaceempires5.com/en-US/node/5871
steiner96 had an issue with it. His problem was fixable in either of 2 ways. 1: set SE5 to only use one CPU, 2: device driver update.
