Ring/Sphere world as homeworld |
So, I've been playing SEV for a bit now. I haven't played online due to limited internet access and so I'm stuck with the AI for the time being.
I tend to play with Victory conditions of "Destroy all Homeworlds." In my mind this should end up being an epic attack on a well defended homeworld, but it usually isn't as big a battle as others as oftentimes their homeworld isn't any more protected than any other planet of it's size so it's simply rolled over like all the planets I faced on the way there.
So, to me it seems that the obvious way to make this more interesting would be to make those homeworlds bigger. The computer seems to be quite good at placing lots of weapons platforms and such around so I don't expect it to have any trouble adding a lot of defenses with all that space.
So, my question is how difficult would this change be to make? Or maybe it already has been (Although I didn't see it in the mods section). I've very limited experience with SEV modding, but did not see any area in the data files where such a change could be made.

You might be able to do an event script to replace them. BUT, I recently came up with a different idea. It's possible to set the game to not randomly spawn planets with a stellar size of large. All you'd need to do is reconfigure planetsizes.txt. Make "large" planets actually have a stellar size of Huge, and make ringworlds have a stellar size of large, take out the setting for constructed only. Next you'd need to modify systemtypes.txt. At the beginning you'll see a small table that has the relative spawn rates of the planet sizes. Change the chance to spawn large to 0 and set the chance to spwn huge to 40. That should do it.
