Noob Ship building question |
Is there a limit to the number of shipyards a planet has? If it's not 1, does anyone create planets that are just stacked with shipyards to really crank out the ships?
I am nearing the middle phase of my game. Colonization is complete and i'm bunching up against other civs. On a medium galaxy how much should i have by way of resources in order to carry out my plans of mass anhilation? Currently I have 2 3-star systems packed with solar generators. I was lucky to have two huge breathable colonies in one, so i've got about about 50 facilities each kicking out 3x resources. I only have about 200k in storage for backup and now that my eyes are toward my enemies, what would you suggest? I only have a few ships out there, mainly barely armed scouts and colony ships. Should i be looking at 1 million/turn expenditures when i get into war?

Re: Noob Ship building question
Though you can build space stations around your planet with one shipyard each, of course. In a galaxy you know will be crowded or with limited resources (where you need to mine every planet you can) this is a viable long-term strategy. But note that spaceborne shipyards are a great deal slower than planetary ones, and if you play the stock game you don't even get them until you have 10 levels in shipyards.

Not true anymore. The hard coded limit has been removed. You can change SY to be built more then once per planet. Longship (in its heavily delayed development, sigh) will allow you to build more then one per planet. I'm testing it right now, and it works fine because you still only have so many resources.

The ability counts were made to function in requirement formulas many versions ago (since 1.57).
