PBEM no combat replay? help. |
in my last few games with various mods doin play by email ive never once been able to watch a combat replay, it tries to load it but cant find it or something.
what am i doing wrong?

Same problem here (see my post), and I'm the host! And I do share the files with the other players.
When you hit the replay button, it indicates that it cannot load the file.

I've encountered this problem as well. Not sure what causes it, but it sure is annoying. How can I effectively countered my much more advanced foe if I can review how I'm getting my butt kicked?

This is odd...I just was able to replay a combat (several turns had lapsed since my last one, and they had scrolled out of the News flash at the start of the turn).
When I reloaded the game later to actually do my turn, the replay was broken (I think I had hit "Resume Game" immediately after running the turn, so it may have had it in memory?
That's just odd that it worked and then didn't...

My friend and I have this same problem when playing TCP/IP games. As the host I can watch combat replays, but when he tries to watch them it errors on him. We've submitted bug reports to Aaron, but nothing has changed. It does reduce the enjoyment of the game a lot in multiplayer.

How long have you given him to respond to the bug reports? He can only work so quickly, if there hasn't been a patch release since you sent it then it's too early to say nothing's changed.

Well, I sent my report in almost a year ago. My friend put his own in about nine months ago. I know there have been MANY patches since we submitted our bug reports. It really makes the multiplayer games less enjoyable. Kwok is right, you really can't tell what is going right or wrong in a battle without the replay.

Has anyone else submitted a bug report on this? Kwok? Anyone? I'm surprised that there hasn't been more complaining about this problem.

Do you actually have the combat replay file in the savegame folder? It's named (aproximately) like "mysavegamename_current_replay_combat.cmb"
It could be that only thegame file was sent, as the cmb file is rather large.
