Ai + mod question

Soumis par pyroman le Ven, 2008-04-04 23:59 Space Empires V General

How do mods make the AI better and more of a challenge?

I was also wondering if with a mod can you make it so you and the ai dont play with the same set of rules like the same tech tree and buildings OR do the current mods already do this?

Mods make the AI better by modding the AI scripts to... work better. Not sure how to describe it; better optimizations? more intelligent logic?

It is possible to make AI-specific techs via a free racial trait. The human player naturally does not select the trait. No existing SE5 mods do this AFAIK, cause its kinda cheesy.

i think if u want to make the AI more challenging, give it goals to achieve rather than decision claculating.
For example...

If u tell it to..Get so many tech lvls by colonizing systems and other means it proves far better then a war based machine which inevitably bankrupts itself and goes down by pure stupidity. Also if u do a conquer system, where by U can let them live and they populate your planets and work for u, like slaves so that your population don't have to work, or u can kill them and that be it. Mind if u keep slaves if they become really unhappy they could revolt.

I was just wondering because lets when I play the AI doesn't seem to get past like lvl 16 or 20 mb and its really annoying when I have lvl 30 mb and my guns just plow right through them along with their lvl 4 shields compared to my lvl 20+

If you could make it so a mod changes the tech tree for the AI is simplified...This might be codling the AI way too much but give it a Weapons research, a Defensive research, and maybe an Other catagory and give the AI the colonization reserach to start and a high lvl of construction because they never build enough ships

The point is, give the AI a different set of rules to play by because the game is very complex and you would really need a complex AI to handel this game. So give the AI a different set of rules to play by...maybe nothing as drastic as that, maybe just decrease research cost so it goes faster

The AI wont be as good as a person, so changes the rules. The ai bonus' are a start, but why stop there? so much of this game is research based, some kind of help to the ai here is needed

The AI does not need a simplified tech tree... it can handle whatever tree is thrown at it, since it essentially picks techs by following a big list. Optimizing research is merely a matter of toying with the order of tech research.
