Tactical Combat |
Is it at all possible to play a multiplayer game with tactical combat?
I have read that some people say hamachi is good for multiplayer, so will it allow Tactical combat? or will it be exactly the same as a TCP/IP connection?
P.S.
I know of PBW, the idea holds absolutely no appeal to me at all.
Cheers, Dan.

Re: Tactical Combat
You get combat replay on PBW, but afaik there's no option to have tactical combat. Makes sense with simultaneous processing.
Re: Tactical Combat
It is not possible, but changeing the strategies so your ships do what you want in combat is in my oppinion even a better challange.

Re: Tactical Combat
Depends on which type of multiplayer.
In PBW, PBEM, and the built-in TCP/IP, no.
Hotseat? YES!
Mind you, Hotseat only works if you actually have another player in your house, and don't mind waiting several dozen minutes as they play their turn.
Allso, in Hotseat, it's rather like the combat simulator, orders can be issued to any human controlled empire, so you'll probably make much use of the timed stop function.

Thanks all.
Re: Tactical Combat
The space combat is an integral part of the game and you do have quite a lot of control over it: by designing your doctrines. I find it much more interestning than simple tactical micromanaging.

Re: Tactical Combat
I never thought to modify the strategies. :lightbulb:
Re: Tactical Combat
I also prefer tactical. It's good to be able to direct your own fire and movement to take advantage of the AI. This was even more true in SE4.

Re: Tactical Combat
If PBW does not allow tactical combat can you at least view a replay to view the combat and check out the opposing ships?
