Okay so i got this new issue. Very early on in the game, ive built a Frigate and a Colony ship and they did their thing. Ive researched some stuff and got new stuff to make my ships better, includeing the outdate Frigate i had buzzing around.
Problem is that i cant make any new ships. Well, i create more of those old outdated ones, but i cant make any with the new upgraded parts. Does that mean that my Space Port needs to be of equal level of the ship? Cause that kinda makes sense now that i think of it, but i hope not cause the research cost on the Space Port is alot more than just upgradeing the ships.
This is probabely the case, just wanting to make sure.

You go into the design screen, select the ship and then click on the "upgrade" button along the right side. Make any changes while in that screen and save the design. Then you have to select your ships in a sector with a shipyard present and retrofit them to the new design. Of course you'll be able to select the new design to build normally as well. I would suggest clicking the "don't show obsolete" button.

You just need to design an new ship, with the updated parts.
