How do I capture a planet? |

Space Empires V General
I'm not sure whether I've actually captured a planet or not.
I've loaded troops. Or at least they are cargo on a ship.
However when combat occurs my ships just seem to kill everything and I'm left with an empty planet.
What ship design do I need, what do I need on it?
Do I select attack on the planet I want to capture.
Do I need to do anything special in tactical or strategic screens?
Just a bit confused in general.
TIA

Re: How do I capture a planet?
First, you're fleet should have it's strategy set to Capture Planet.
If you're playing tactical combat, simply order your transport to droop troops (it's one of the combat order buttons) and select the planet. The transport will move to the planet. In theory your ships shouldn't glass the planet but only eliminate it's defenses - but sometimes they overkill, particularly with a small planet. Once you're transport is close enough, it will fire off a drop pod. Ground combat will occur at the end of the turn.
