Steam to regular version conversion and TCP/IP multiplayer problems on 1.66

Soumis par slotkusl le Mar, 2008-02-26 10:56 Space Empires V General

Hi, I have just recently bought SEV on steam and I´m really starting to hate steam. First of all it downloaded and installed itself on a subdirectory of steam itself without asking where do I want to put it. I distribute my data and applications on a certain way, and this "automatic shit making" is not of my liking to say the least. Besides launching SEV without steam running doesn´t work. The more I see it it seems like steam would be some kind of malware program at least in it´s behaviour.
So the question is: is there any way to convert the steam SEV version to the regular one? If not, can I install a regular SEV version downloaded from the internet (in other words a pirate one) as a workaround? I have bought the license afterall... What would be your thougts on the subject?

In reference to my TCP/IP simultaneous game problems I wanted to ask this:
1. It doesn´t work neither alone with port forwarding and firewall rules setting, neither through hamachi. Well, it works fine till it´s time to process the first turn (to start the actual game), the program starts distributing player locations and goes back to the host screen and the game never starts.

I have read today that the workaround is not generating the map in advance and will try out it today, but I´m not certain if this will solve my problem, because this was a response for the 1.53 game version. The forum doesn´t seem to have any other usefull recomendations to make it work.

Yes I cant get it to even connect through TCP/IP with a friend and we both shut down our firewalls. I tried it once the same way we are but the other PC was on the LAN. If you somehow get it to work tell me how and I'll do the same.

You haven't actually bought a license to run a non-Steamed version of SE5; check the license a little more carefully. Eye-wink
