Retreat shall cost more movement points |
I often had the situation in a combat that the oponent's ships were damaged, but not destroyed. Then the oponent's ships retreated. That is OK, but then the nuisance starts. When I try to attack such a retreated ship again, it retreats again in the next combat. This happens again and again, until the movement points of my ship or the oponent's one are exhausted.
That is really bothersome and takes a lot of combat turns and time.
In my opinion, it would be better to reduce the number of possible retreats per turn. For example to increase the movement costs for retreating from one to two movement points. The rationale behind this could be that it costs a lot of energy to escape from combat.
Any other suggestions?

Re: Retreat shall cost more movement points
Try fighters or drones; should be fast enough to capture runners.
Re: Retreat shall cost more movement points
If your cloaked and attack you dont really attack cause your cloaked so then you just de cloak and in combat your right next to the enemy ship
I have only tried this in stock and where they did not detect me
hope it helps

capnq is correct, you need to find work arounds
I have played many empire type games and have mess around with Space Empires before but have only had SE5 for a week or so and am still in the first game.
BUT .... I have found that fighters work great and also i will split my fleet and place a few ships in all sectors conneting to the target (i left the turn mode to defualt) and this tends to make the AI not run away only run in a circle. Which isnt needed since i have the fighters but is fun to do

Re: Retreat shall cost more movement points
Fighters (or Drones). Is the answer to these retreating ships. The real problem is when you have a damaged fighter that's constantly retreating - then you need to do the surround trick.
Of course, if it's a single player game, you could always decide to turn Retreat off in Settings.txt

Playing Touhou games (Go to this Wiki if interested. No, nobody else is that good/insane as that replay). No rush for SE

Re: Retreat shall cost more movement points
Why would retreating cost more energy than pursuing?
If you haven't damaged the enemy's engines or fuel tanks, he shouldn't be any easier to catch.
