Questions on Lan-play Setup

Hi, since i am about to start a multiplayer game via lan (hamachi) i would like to ask, if there is anything me and the other players need to prepare before we can start (eg empires) also if there are other things the host and the others would need to prepare/consider
or is there a step by step guide? or any type of mp faq? couldnt find anything in the sev wiki...
