Satellite Field Wierdness with v 1.66 and BM 1.12

Soumis par Zaeren le Lun, 2008-01-14 18:30 Space Empires V General

Hi, I finally got around to downloading the new updates and starting a new game, using the gorn custom shipset. Everything plays great except, that I have deployed satellite fields to block my warp points and when they're attacked by the ai, they show damage in the ui and sat. menu but a check of the damaged satellite shows all components undamaged, attempts to repair do nothing. I've noticed that the ai seems to allways fire at the same part of the field,(which is opposite their heading), and the damage to the satellite seems to go up and down almost like its counting damage but the satellite is never destroyed. I don't want invincible satellites, it ruins the fun of good system defence can anyone tell me what's up and how to fix it?

Is it possible you have multiple satellites over one another on that point? First one gets damaged, then destroyed and another slightly damaged, etc...

Go to sector view, and try moving those satellites. If they are over one another, grabbing one should leave another under it. (which can then be grabbed in turn)

Hey LordDemon, this is possible since the ai allways fires at the "node" satellite,(the sat. that stacks all the extra sat's), I emptied the stack and manually placed all sat's and found the damage readings go away after a turn or so. Also I'm using organic technology, and was wondering if unregenerated armour was reading as temporary damage, (though I.ve never seen it happen before)?

I don't remember if Organic armor repairs itself between turns, but that could explain it. I know it doesn't repair itself if it is completely destroyed though. If you had any repair capabilities present that would also explain it.

Or, if there was an attack, maybe there was only one damaged satellite, which was destroyed? Then there would be no more damage, if the second satellite didn't get hit.

I made a point of keeping repair ships away, so the damage must have been armor or a bug. If satellites in the stack were being destroyed, then the game wasn't counting them. Since posting I haven't had this problem it seems, although last night the 'quadrant wide abilities' tab for ships and planets was briefly showing my cultural improvements at a tiny fraction of their actual levels, exiting and reloading cleared it up though. Oh, and one of my planets became graphically corrupt until I exited the system, then came back. I may need to un/re-install,(I just did that recently though). Is it advised to re-install whenever you update the game? I usually don't, and generally don't have any problem's, maybe it goes buggy sometimes, oh well.
