Frequent Crashes |
Okay, this game is great. A great improvement over SEIV (which was good in its own right). But, after about 12 turns I started to get frequent CTDs after battles. Even worse after about 25 turns, my current game has become unplayable because the game just stops when running the computers turns. It doesn't matter that I reload from a previous save. The game just gets to player 7's turn and just stays on it forever. I've let the game just run for ten minutes on player 7's turn and it never resolves the turn. It makes my entire game so far utterly unusable. Great game, but the crashes and this bug make it worthless.
After repeated attempts to workaround, I've noticed that it always happens to player 7 out of 13. Player 7 is the only empire than I have a treaty with. Also, I am expecting to hear back from a treaty offer from them. Could this be causing the hang?
Also, does anyone know what causes the hang during the turn resolution? Anything I can do to get around it?
Oh my god is this game frustrating. I've gone back, messed with settings, tried reloading saves from previous turns and I keep getting that same hang up on turn resolution at year 2.3. Plus, these constant CTDs from combat are just killing it.
Why must you torture me with a great game that I can't play! Curses!
Also, can we get a sticky with any workarounds for the bugs? (if there are any)
Message on next turn
While reading this it occured to me that a game I was playing hung while having just sent a message to another empire. There might be some kind of bug to this. Anyone else noticed this?

I found that in SEIV a computer-controlled empire could build more ships/units than the allowed number, thus causing the game to freeze during processing of AI turns. The only way I could fix this was to set the particular empire to human control, scrap a whole bunch of ships, then set it back to computer.
Could the same thing be happening here?

Is there anything that can be done about the game hanging when doing turn resolutions? Anyone figured out what causes them?
