Lockups, Crashes SEV RETAIL V 1.00 |
While playing the Full Release Version 1.0 of the game, I have the following Problems.
* After Playing a series of turns, the game will lock-up while taking the turns for the AI. If 9 are playing, it will get to player 9's turn and hang. When I reload the last save.. it doesnt matter what I do during my turn, it still always will hang. This makes the ability to restore from last saved game useless. And pretty much ends whatever progress you had made in that entire game, with an unplayable game past that point.
* Having random crashes to desktop.. sometimes without error message, toher times with out of range error, or Fatal Exception Errors.
I had the same issues while running the demo, was hoping version 1.0 would be better. I have checked to insure I have the latest drivers for my hardware and software, and the issues remain. At this time, It frustrating enough to make the game unplayable. Rather annoying to play for 30-45 minutes only to have the game hang and never recover.. regardless of how many times you reload the save game.
My Spec..

Upcoming patch should help.
The upcoming patch (~Oct 16th) should help you a lot. Many of the hangups during AI turn processing have been resolved. I get very few crashes with it versus some of the earlier circa release versions.

I also got this, with player 5 of 17 on turn 278 of my game. I've sent my saved game to Aaron on his request and hopefully that'll make it easy for him to find the bug...

Can switch AI to human to fix usually
You can sometimes stop the error by switching the player to human control temporarily and preventing whatever is causing the error... sometimes it's something like a certain ship entering a warp point etc... note that the default passwords are "master"
-----
How do I switch the player?
How do I switch the player?

Switch player in main menu
In the main menu (F1), choose Players. Remove the green dot from the race you think is giving you a problem... the password is "master" and when the player turn comes up, it will also be "password".

Also.. I have disabled
Also.. I have disabled sound.. and tried again. No Change
I have run in Safe Video memory mode and normal as well. No differences
hope this helps. I can also provide copies of the saved games for trouble shooting purposes if it will help
