Lan game not setting up, help noob

Soumis par pyroman le Sam, 2007-11-03 19:59 Space Empires V Multiplayer

I always get the error msg "Unable to establish provider"

I set it up with Simultaneous movment, different machines, connection type host, and IPX connection

other info- Im just tryn to play a multi player with two comps in the same room, both have the game bought via steam and steam keeps it up to date. I would hate to do it hot seat style but if I have too I will...

The only way is manual file moving.

yes and it really sucks bigtime.

Played a game last night round a friends house. He has 2 PC's and we ended up playing a hotseat game despite this because it was less hassle than swapping files between them (or even using a shared folder).

Please please Aaron sort this out. I know you have a huge workload but please get us a decent way to play multiplayer when you want to play NOW rather than PBM.

Seems a bit pointless having a manual file moving thing for LAN, imagine playing the game over
a lan without the need for files or hotseats.

I play at home over a LAN all the time. There are several steps to take but I do not have to do any manual file moving. The program does it for me.

On PC starts a game with Simultaneous movment, different machines, connection type host, and TCPIP connection.

On the second PC start a new game imultaneous movment, different machines, connection type PLAYER , and TCPIP connection.

Once several steps are correctly entered the game runs fairly easy.

The player does their turn and clicks next turn.
He goes to a wait screen.

When the Host player is done they click next turn.
They go to a wait scren that shows that the other Player has submitted their turn.
The Host then Process the turn.
The Host machine transmits the files back to the player's PC.
The player gets a noise and a message that they need to play their turn.

The host selects their empire and clicks play turn.

So other than some turns taking a LOT of time to tansmit the files if there have been lots of battles the game moves along.
