unable to extract FQM mod

When I try to extract FQM or the multimedia pack for SE:V I get many error messages in winrar that say "the security ID may not be assigned to the owner of this project"

I am using Vista. I am extracting this in my documents folder, and I have all the permission rights set. Any ideas?

I've never seen such an error when trying to extract a .rar file in Vista. Curious.

What are the security permissions on the file? Can you add yourself with access to read it?

The security permissions give full control to administrator, user, and SYSTEM. I've never had this problem with a zip file before. Strangely, the 'components' pack unzips just fine....?

please help me fyron! i am being deprived of the greatest mod of all time.

What are the permissions on the folder where you're extracting the rar to? That folder needs to have "write" permission set as well, I believe, for new files to be created there...

its my user's documents folder... yes it has write permissions. Ive extracted many rars here before. And I can extract the 'components' rar for some reason.

I noticed that under properties -> details, the files that I cannot extract have the attribute "AN". While the components filed has the attribute "A", which I can extract. Any idea what that means? The security settings for all files appear to be the same.

That seems to have something to do with indexing. I also found that the files in the error message still extract...

The rar files on SEnet do not have any "N" attribute set... something on your end has done something weird.

It might help if you mention what archive application you are using..

the latest winrar. It still doesnt make sense why the component rar unzips fine though...

I had the same problem with another .rar file and could solve it.
Try this:

- right click the Winrar icon (desktop or startup menu) and "Run as Administrator".
- File > Open, and find the file
- Extract it with the right password

You should unpack it normally. Hope it helps
