Adding unit abilities to parent

looking into vehicleunittypes.txt i found this:

Vehicle Unit Type Name := Weapon Platform
Unit Texture Start X := 0.00
Unit Texture Start Y := 0.00
Unit Texture End X := 0.00
Unit Texture End Y := 0.00
Maximum In Space Per Player Per Sector := 0
Number Of Unit Capabilities := 7
Unit Capability 1 Type := Can Be Transferred While In Cargo
Unit Capability 2 Type := Can Be Scrapped
Unit Capability 3 Type := Takes Part in Ground Combat
Unit Capability 4 Type := Can Fire Into Space From Planet Surface
Unit Capability 5 Type := Can Be Deconstructed And Analyzed
Unit Capability 6 Type := Can Be Retrofitted
Unit Capability 7 Type := Abilities Added To Parent When In Cargo

modding doc "clarifies":
"Abilities Added To Parent When In Cargo – This unit adds its abilities to its parent
object when in cargo."
but i didn't find any ability for weapon platform in vehiclesizes.txt. does this unit capability adds its others capabilities to its parent object? or an unarmed ship gains ability to fire weapon when armed WP is in cargo?

i want to provide captain for ship who can add abilities to ship when this unit is in cargo. and this unit may be created by AI script and distributed to en empire through an event only.

That function isn't working yet, its one of several listed but not functional. I and many others have come across similar things, some actually listed as not used but actually working in game Smiling

You can add your request to the growing list, just email MM and let Arron know what your asking for, he is more considerate than you would expect for a game designer. Most of the time they won't acknowledge your request due to the inherent volume of requests submitted, Arron is an exception to the benefit.

Damn it, I was going to REMOVE that capability from weapons platforms so they don't give shield points to the entire planet! Sad

I wonder how WP's know to add their shield points to the planet, but troops don't... hmmm...

Well, the speed at that MM and Arron are moving, I'd stick to your mod plan! Before long SEV will have all its functions and abilities working and all the modders will be re-designing their mods, may not even be the same mod after all the patches Smiling

Indeed, MM seems to be moving at an impressive clip. At this rate, I might be able to add some sort of "Spare Parts" unit, that is consumed on ships for repairs before too long.
