Migration from other races

Soumis par Pit Fiend le Lun, 2007-10-01 06:38 Space Empires V General

Hi SE:V community,

I'm new to this game and was surprised about a 300 pages handbook. Sadly i found out that most of the pages describe self-explaining buttons like 'set treaty elements - this button will set the treaty elements'. However most of the game mechinism isn't described in this large handbook.

So here's the question
Early in the game, i accepted treaties with races and they migrate to my empire. I checked the breathable atmospheres of these races and transferred those races to my domed colonies and removed my own population.

Now these colonies aren't domed and i can build more facilities. Does the racial traits of those new races affect the production bonusses of my colonies, or my quadrant wide bonusses of my own race?

Best regards,
Pit Fiend

Check the sector's ability description. Do you notice any bonuses that you didn't take for your native race?

It's hard to calculate the production sum for me. My race has a 5 % bonus to mineral mining. The migrated race doesn't have this ability.

Does this race then behave like my race, because 'Abilities' states my 5 % bonus. When i try to calculate i never hit this 24861 minerals, even with or without bonus. I think i miss something in my calculation.

Sometimes it shows(and/or uses) both. Some bonuses seem to be used because the planet is controlled by you.

That's my point.

If i get a race let's say with -10 % mineral, -10 % build rate etc. and i want to set up a construction yard at this planet, then it would be worse, because my native race has great bonusses in this field.

Nevertheless, the colony isn't domed and can hold more facilities ... It's a bit so and so. Nothing is mentioned in the user's guide Sad

Actually now that I think about it.... The game seems to have two categories of racial bonuses, government oriented, and people oriented. Your Government bonuses apply to any race in your empire. People bonuses apply to that population regardless of whose empire they're part of.

In the 'Abilities' scetion of planet info there're to bonusses of my race, regardless if it's a colony with full of my people or another race.

In this case, i should not allow other races to migrate to my empire. I pay a lot of points in the beginning, only to see all gone in the game, because of other races.

Thanks for the discussion,

1: Does abilities show ALL of your bonusses when none of your people are there?

2: Um... That made no sense.... you don't LOSE anything by allowing others into your empire. YOU GAIN their abilities, at least on the planets where they live.

1: Yes, Abilities show ALL of my bonusses (Quadrant wide) when none of my people are there. But calculation the resources or shipyard construction time isn't correct (due to the other race i think as you told)

2: I gain their abilities AND their weakness, so e.g. if they have construction -25 % i don't want to have this race at my construction sites, even if the planet isn't domed anymore.

Very difficult chapter for me.

Actually I'm pretty sure when they migrate into your empire they take on all of your statistics (I remember checking this when the game first came out, just compare the special abilities section of two planets, one with your native pop, and one with theirs). In other words, you don't get their strength or their weakness, just their ability to breath the atmosphere in question.

I'm pretty certain of this because in testing my mods I usually have crazy construction bonuses, and all the converted worlds (my world with their population) produced the correct amounts, which they couldn't have gotten normally.
