Game locking up in turn processing.

Soumis par Khemul le Dim, 2007-09-30 22:40 Space Empires V FAQs

Getting an odd problem the last couple games I've played of SE5. This happened in a previous game with the same mod and setup so maybe it has to do with that but wondering if anyone else has seen it.

Fleetmod and v1.44. 255 Systems, 20 AIs, somewhere around turn 70 (71 in the current game...think it was the late 60s in the other one)
I hit end turn. Player 2 Taking Turn comes up, turn processes. Then Player 3 Taking Turn comes up and nothing. No green bar or anything. Just says Player 3 Taking Turn until I force the program to close. Have reloaded the game a few times from the same point and it happens each time.

There is only one person who can fix your problem: Malfador.
As the bug can be reproduced, I suggest you send your savegave with the mod specification and your system specification to him.
I experienced similar problems but in my cases reprocessing the same turn from the last savegame avoided the locking up.

This is a known bug on SSI's support page. They reccommend only running small or medium galaxies until a patch is released. There is no fix at this time. I assume it's some sort of memory leak issue with running the game a long time and the AI empires getting larger and larger and having to process more and more stuff. I'd also suggest dropping the maximum unit and ship counts values a bit.

I know, it's very frustrating. Here's a game that proudly proclaims THE SKY'S THE LIMIT!!! and then in small print (if, you ah, own a super-computer)

All that is done before the naked stars is remembered
