Retrofitting ships with ministers |
I admit I do not understand how the "Retrofit ship all" Minister works. If I create more then one ship using the same hull, but with different purposes, each one, once built, is retrofitted to the same type.
For instance, if I have the project of an attack ship and that of an explorer ship, both based upon a lvl. 3 frigate's hull, the explorer ship is retrofitted to the attack ship.
On the other hand, the minister seem not to notice when I upgrade a design and do not retrofits the old version of that ship.
What I'm missing?

Never, Ever, Trust Ministers :P
I've never used a minister since the 2nd game I played in SEIV. As a joke, I used to design a Ministerial Transport, equip Self-Destruct device, and pretended I blew 'em all to hell.
From what I've read, some ministers either don't work at all, or work in frustratingly goofy ways. Now I'm not sure is this is true anymore, but keep it in mind when using these dastardly characters.

Re: Retrofitting ships with ministers
I never use ministers either.
If there's any minister that works even halfway right, I'd like to know which one. (Doesn't need to be particularly efficient, but shouldn't be counter-productive.) I'd like to reduce my workload & maybe play more evenly vs. the AI.

I second that!
Afaik ministers just reduce the time Aaron has to work on more important issues... I also read somewhere that ministers are the AI folks, i.e. you turn them all on and your empire plays like an AI controller one. True or False?

Re: Retrofitting ships with ministers
The Ministers are AI components. So turning them all on is the equivalent of being an AI. Some of them are ok with what they do.

Re: Retrofitting ships with ministers
The fact that AI in SEV has holes (think swiss cheese). Put that game on hold and try another to replicate the situation. Check details such as the ship purpose If you have the "Explorer" set to attack ship ... there is the reason right there, set it to recon/exploration type.
if it keeps up the funny stuff ask a modder to have a look into it.
Hope it helps man.
