Remembering colonized planets

Image de Rilo57
Soumis par Rilo57 le Mar, 2007-09-25 09:19 SE:V MODs

Will the Ai have to be modded to use the 1.54 feature of remembering colonoized planets? Or will the Ai script be taking advantage of the feature immediately?

As I've mentioned before, the AI already knows which planets are colonized, regardless if they can see them or not.

My guess is that it would need further modification to work properly. Remember that the feature will give you info for the last time you scouted the sector?, so it remembers outdated info.

The AI behavior is to scout? the uncolonized systems periodically and that won't change because of a new feature. Extra code is needed to handle the new info properly otherwise the AI would act on old info (which is better that acting without any info at all, mind you).

We really need to see how exactly this new feature will work anyway...

The planet appears with a darkened flag of the Empire that owned it when you last had sensor coverage. It's marked as well in the planets list under owner with a darkened flag as well. That's about it.

Before each movement phase, the AI looks at all the systems it knows. It looks at all the visible objects in a system and develops various lists based on that info - such as a list of colonized planets. If it has seen the planet previously but no longer has sensor coverage, it will still know the basic details of that planet - whether it was colonized etc. So it already has sight memory for planets.

That's cool!

I wonder if you could answer 2 more questions please?

Is this info also used IN the filters in the planets screen? I don't want to see them at all when selecting planets for colonization.

Does the game also uses this info to color the system in the quadrant view?

Thanks Captain.

Even though it was marked as own, it was still being marked as empty in the planets to colonize list. Also, it wasn't be registered for purposes of displaying system ownership on the expanded quadrant map. However, both items were brought up in the last couple of days. Both should be correct before the public patch is built.
