Fatal Strike? |
I'm playing a single player 1.44 game with balance mod 1.09, and im planning on attack an empire with only one system left. If I attack their homeworld which contains the only spaceport within the system, will that get effectivly block all income for that empire untill they can build another?
I'm hoping that means mainance costs will use up their stores and their fleet will start to fall apart within a few turns giving me an easy kill rather than a protracted war. My forces may be needed on the other side of the sector soon, so I need this empire crippled asap.
So, do you think this will work?

Re: Fatal Strike?
As far as I know, you only need a spaceport to send resources to the empire as a whole. This won't stop construction queues, but it will stop research and intel, because those are spent on an empire level, not a system level.

Re: Fatal Strike?
The home system without a Space Port will only return 25% of it's total production as per the value in settings.txt; all other systems without a Space Port will provide no resources at all.
If the empire doesn't have sufficient stores, then the loss of resources due to a space port strike could easily stop queues and if down for an extending period of time, can result in ships being abandoned.
Re: Fatal Strike?
Good work, dmcdonald. The plan will nearly always work, but be aware that there is a 'racial trait' which exempts empires from needing spaceports. I don't know if it'd apply to the home system or not.
Good luck.

Re: Fatal Strike?
A human player would just build another spaceport (in 1-3 turns). But specifically, do you need a spaceport in your home system?
A question comes to mind having to do with this whole spaceport issue, Is this why there's a "only damages spaceport" weapon?
SEV, more than a feeling.
