Hello, I have recently purchased Space Empires V from GameStop, and have upgraded with the latest patch to 1.44. I am running on Vista Basic.
Every time I click on Ground Simulator, and select my troops, whenever I click on either Place Ground Items or Begin Combat, I receive an Access Violation error and the game crashes. Its extremely annoying that I cannot do ground combat. Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I have. I had tried it several different times, and have selected may different planets, too. Hasn't worked. 
EDIT: Clicking Start Combat will work. Whenever I click "Place Ground Items", I get this error:
Access Violation at address 101E5AA1 in module 'nvd3dum.dll'. Read of address 00134000

Have you selected a planet to run the simulation on? I think you might have to do that before beginning the simulation... there was something recently in the beta changelogs about that...
