Great game but... a few moans and bug reports |
First off I think this is a great game but....
Here are a couple of moans and bug (?) reports:
1. I've had a few "Access Violation" crashes over the weekend. I can reliably reproduce one - when using the "delete fleet" command I get this error and CTD. I have a saved game (the four files for each saved game) rar'ed up and ready to send off if anyone has an email address I send to the devs.
-- just read the message about access violations - using the "remove all" is o.k. - it's the delete fleet command that gives the error...
2. Message fron the Sunihn Hive "We offer this [%ProposedTreatyName%] in the hopes of ..."
3. Trying to scrap ships and mines I get a message about the scrap value but after accepting I get a message about no shipyard in sector - even when there is.
4. Why are all my pilots "recruits" when some have been "in space" and "in combat" for 50+ turns?
5. My construction queues are stopped in several systems. I've got a light cruiser or better in orbit about each planet, have satellite or sensor coverage over the whole (edit: did say sector originally - different games, different names) system and cruisers camping on the jump gates - but the construction queues won't start because the planet population is rioting - there are no enemy systems within 3 - 4 jumps and the expanded quadrant map shows no enemies ???

Re: Great game but... a few moans and bug reports
1. Should be fixed for the next patch, I believe.
2. That looks like a localization error, never had that before.
4. I thought stock data files do give a small amount of experience per turn, but it would take decades for noticeable improvement solely from that.

4. Being "in space" does not provide any ship experience. Ships need to participate in a fair amount of combat to build up enough experience points to go up a level. A ship only gets experience when it actually damages a target, with a bonus for the ship that lands the killing blow. You can also use training facilities to increase experience.
5. A lot of things other than enemy presence can cause unhappiness... Dump a few dozen police troops (small, with no components so they are as cheap as possible) on the rioting planets and they will come back around in no time.
