Fighter Shields

I am having a problem with shields on my fighters. When first buil;t the shields are at full strength, but after a fight they never regenerate and I am left with only armor, even on a new turn. Has anyone else noticed this? I can't imagine fighter shields not regenerating after a turn like ship shields do.

Now this may seem like some dumb questions,
Do your fighters have supplies left?
Are they damaged?

what version are you playing?

Did you patch and continue the game from before the last patch?

I am running version 1.44.

Games I have started since the last patch exhibit the same problems.

I am careful to make sure I have no supply problems, as in early games it proved disastrous.

There is a game that I started in 1.33 that I am currently playing, but it is over 450 turns. I would hate to think of re-investing that time all over again.

I have sent an email to the developer but have yet to get a response.

Fighters are still behaving very strangely. Any deployed unit does, actually.

For example, I've seen that a launched fighter group never loses supply or ordnance from combat, but never has its actual stores going into combat (First fighter gets about 80%, all others have 50%). Their numbers are unreliable, and so useless. Buggy shields and relatively little in-game support for units makes them too difficult to bother with for me.

Satellite seem to be working fine, however. I'm not sure why they work fine, but fighters act so strangely.

I suppose that dropping shields in favor of more armor (that will be repaired if you equip your carrier with a repair bay..

Not much help against armor skipping weapons, but they are a minority damage type.

It's to do with the fact the fighters are cargo when it comes to regenerating their shields, so the computer skips over them. A simple way to mod around this somewhat would be to give fighter shields a regeneration component, so that by the time they are launched and reach combat their shield has recovered after launch anyway, though this does make fighters tougher.

I took the hint from the above post an tried something last night. I launched all my fighters and then ended the turn. When the new turn came up I retrieved my fighters and continued on. The next battle that the fighters were in they had their shields. Problem solved...sort of.

It should work. It seems like the trick is for the fighters to be active when the turn cycles, rather than cargo.

The bug still needs to be fixed. AI's don't do workarounds.

I can confirm your findings: shields of fighters are not regenerated after a combat if they are cargo.
Did you send a savegame to MM?
