Weapon Abilities |

1) Is it possible to make a weapon that does damage-over-time? I.e. a corrosive acid glob hits the target and does some damage, and then continues to do some damage per second for a period of time. A DoT weapon, if you will.
2) Can we mod weapons so they do damage in a radius?
If it's possible to do any either of these effects currently, I'm very interested in learning how. I'm JUST about finished with DevnullMod for SEV and I'm in the process of revamping the weapons and have been noticing how they are 1) not balanaced well, and 2) not very differentiated.

I would like to see code added for the following impact effects:
1. Area of Effect (obvious)
2. Damage over time
3. Chain from source (like chain lightning)
4. Chain from impact (projectile/beam hits ship, then bounces to several nearby ships. Only 1 bounce)
5. Spray - single weapon that hits multiple ships in range
6. Shockwave - same as AOE, but expands out from the ship, hits all in range.

Very cool ideas but my understanding of the combat mechanics says it's not possible to "mod" such things. These ideas should be forwarded to Aaron, for hardcoding.
Oh and by the way devnullicus where you been? Are you plannining to release any updates to your editor?

And all those that were proposed during the beta... (mostly area of effect damage on components in a single ship)
I'm not sure area of effect damage on multiple ships can even be implemented, but I'd really like to see it!

it might be "hackable" if you can get the weapon to say fire at a ship causing that ship to fire at everything in an area, but you couldn't target it at nowhere

To my knowledge none of these are possible at the moment. It would indeed be nice being able to create Dot and area-effect weapons.
