Warp Points/Open Space |
Hello I have been thinking about warp points and how they work. Mods which is set in a different universe for example the star trek universe, that universe those not have them except some places like ds9 but not around every star. So I was thinking why not change the warp points texture and name. For example the warp point between the systems of (gargonek) and (folnor)could be named (open space to folnor) and the texture change to something fitting. The result, we still have warp points but at the same time we don’t because they will be the simulation of open space off course you will never se this open space but it might fit better in mods like a star trek mod if it’s in the works. The effect for warp points can be easily changed. You might want to keep the flash animation since it already looks like a warp effect.
Warp restrictions can be enforced by the vehicle type.

A typical way of representing a Star Trek universe or similar in the SE series is to generate maps with lots of warp points, so that almost every system is connected to every nearby system etc. This sort of simulates a straight-line approach to nearby systems.
