Mini mods |
Here's an idea: a series of mini mods which only alter a small part of gameplay, that individual players can pick and choose from to create their own version of the "perfect" game.
Here's a few ideas for minimods (some of which I may have seen elsewhere so forgive me if I am stealing your brainwaves):
1. Pollution. The conditions of any planet with resource extraction facilities on it will slowly deteriorate towards Deadly. The more resource extraction, the greater the speed of decline.
2. Heavy Armour. Armour components on a ship or unit will actually reduce its speed. This will probably work best when combined with some sort of QNP mod.
3. Population can Repair. As it stands right now, a planet cannot repair any damage unless it has a spaceyard - it can build a new facility from scratch but can't repair a slightly damaged one? So give colonies a small amount of facility and unit (not ship) repair.
4. Ship crew requirements are based on the components installed as well as the hull size.
Anyone else have any ideas? Or care to implement an idea already mooted?
Re: Mini mods
But a set of partial mods is not a bad idea and would help people make it the game they want. two draw backs are merging and debuging them and multiplayer other than PBEM might have problems

Re: Mini mods
The concept of a mini mod is fine, but If you want to play it singleplayer, you'd have to write an Ai to handle the new rules... That's where the mini kind of breaks down. However your ideas are cool. the polution idea is great. There could even be a polution processor plant that fixes the ecological damage being done be the mining.
SEV, more than a feeling.
Re: Mini mods
The little reference/mini mods we wrote a while back for SE4 concepts seemed to work out fine...

Re: Mini mods
hmm, don´t think mini-mods like this will work well. when you start sev you choose one mod that you use.
so if you want to mix many small mods you´ll have to put them together manually first so they work as one mod then.
