After end of turn crash -- during computer "player 3" calculating

Description

After ending my turn, the computer AI goes through the computer players and, in my current turn, crashes during "Player 3" turn. I have played a bunch of turns with no problem until now. This appears to be happening during combat between computer-controlled Player 3 and another computer-controlled player as evidenced by the red combat bar growing, but never disappearing to return to the green turn bar.

Anyway, check out the attached file. Hit the end of turn button. It freezes up with Player 3 every time. I even went back two turns to see about avoiding this problem. It froze up at the same place. Any thoughts?

I've encountered the same problem when the computer is processing player 5. The saved game is attached. It's zipped and attached.

I too have seen this behavior. One way to get around it in the short term is to restore the game prior to the hang and before ending turn, set player 3 (or whatever other player gets hung) to human controlled for the one turn. This is usually enough to get around the situation that is throwing the bug. When it's your next turn, reset the player back to computer controlled.

I did notice that the turn the problem was happening with the computer player there was a battle with a planet and the ships in the battle were able to hurt the planet down to about 225 or 255 structure and then weapons fire became useless against the planet. So from that point on the ships just circled around the planet continuing to fire but getting no further damage on the planet.

Because of this, the planet was not going to die and the timer for the battle went beyond 5 minutes. I've read this is normal as as lon as someone is firing the battle won't end, even after the time limit... But this causes problems for large fleets and getting in this "no win" situation... I think the developers at MM need to put in some sort of hard stop for battles or these buggy situations will always spell doom for cimputer controlled battles...
