X file conversion

There are on the web quite a lot of X files with nice ships that could be used with SE .

However when i tried using them i found that the game doesnt work properly. More specifically i tried importing the Nebula class starship fom SFC III in SE V and the model was all black.

I noticed that the difference between the SFC model and the Se V model is that the SFC model is a binary .X file format. Is there any converter that can convert that into the text format that se V uses ?
