Help with Fighter CSP (Combat Space Patrol)

Soumis par Kilson le Mer, 2007-07-11 13:06 Space Empires V General

How can I get My SSF(Space Superiority Fighter) to defend my fleet from hostile fighters? No mater what Strategies I set them to my SSF run away when launched until enemy fighters are launched. By the time my fighters get back in range the enemy fighters have already mauled my fleet.

If I put Anti ship weapons my fighters then go right for the enemy's ships and only shoot at enemy fighters as they pass them. But that defeats the purpose of a SSF, thats why I have Strike Fighters and Bombers to shoot at ships, bases and planets.

Is there any way I can make the SSF fighters stay with my fleet with out nerffing there speed so they cant run away from my ship?

Any Help is appreciated.

Thank you

make them a new stratergy where the default action for retreat is to stick with the rest of your ships

Thats what I have for there Strategy, Called CSP but they fly away from any enemy even fighters before they loop back, they hide behind my ships at lest 100 ls away before they even think about doing there job like shoot down incoming missiles, or fighters. Which by this time have already had there way with my poor ships. . .

I wonder if this is caused by the Interceptor weapons? (can only attack Fighters, Sats, guided torpedos, Drones) If I dare put something like Close Attack Missile's to keep the dreaded Frigate of doom away the fighters will go off like glory seeking idiots to attack the biggest enemy ship there is. The completely forget about any and all Strategy's to get the kill.

I am using a custom mod, but i don't think that I did any thing to affect strategies.

Thank you for responding Rahiubenru.

Makes me look fondly on the turn based battle system of SE4. At least I could have some control over the fighters.

I wish you could make strike groups out of fighters, and have control over what types that launch. Right now It seams that My bombers get launched than the Strike Fighters and lastly my Space Superiority fighters get to launch, but by then the bomber that have no weapon that can target Fighters or Sats are running for the hills , the enemy fighters are having a free run shooting down my ships.

The only way I can get my CSP to launch is if it is the only Fighter on the Carrier. That makes my fleet carriers siting ducks, to enemy fighters.
Just wish that there was a If /Then / Else in the strategies such as

Launch this unit
if Enemy = Fighters = True
Than = Launch
Else = Hold
If Enemy = Sats = True
Than = Launch
Else = Hold
If Enemy = Ships = Ture
Then = Hold
Else = Launch

Whenever the new patch gets around to being available, I understand that the retreat portion of strategy definitions has been re-done. Currently, none of the retreat customizations really seem to work at all...ships or task forces retreat only if the strategy says to immediately, or if there is nothing in the field of combat that they can shoot at, and they only do so by turning tail and running directly away from the nearest enemy.

Perhaps the patch's changes will help.
