Question about alliance diplomacy |

Heya;
I'm having some troubles with the diplomacy system in an alliance;
In a multi player game I'm in alliance with someone.
We can send messages to other players and vote on that. We can for instance vote on issues of declaring war.
What we can NOT do is vote on a new treaty proposal. At least... I can't create a message that sets up a trade treaty with another player. The game will say that it is against treaty terms.
The treaty terms do include some specifications about not allowing others to join the alliance for a period of time; But I thought this would be an article on truely 'JOINING' the alliance, in stead of setting up a trade agreement.
Does any of you have experience in the diplomatic options of an alliance and could you reveal the options of creating new treaties to me ?
Thanks!
Re: Question about alliance diplomacy
That's one problem with how the alliances are bugged. Alliances cannot make treaties at all. Members of alliances cannot make treaties. Since a treaty is required to end a war, alliances cannot make peace. Even if an empire offers a treaty to the alliance, you won't be allowed to accept it, since the game thinks you're trying to violate the no treaties rule.
At least with another human in your alliance, he should know you're allied. The AI can't figure it out. They see another empire they don't have a treaty with, and try to attack. But the map knows you're allied, and nobody ever gets to do any fighting.
Still, your people will riot based on the number of wanna-be enemy ships around. I'm curious if that'll happen in your game. I expect it should.
I expect this will be fixed eventually. Some parts of the program recognize the alliances and some don't. MM is doing something innovative here with the diplomacy in SEV, and it only makes sense to fix it up right. It also makes sense to fix nuts-and-bolts before bells-and-whistles; so it may be a while.

Re: Question about alliance diplomacy
I was just about to ask why I can't make peace in a war, glad I found this. I guess the fix for alliances will come in SEVI. Maybe they could just disable this so people won't make the mistake of entering into an alliance that will kill all there diplomacy!

Re: Question about alliance diplomacy
The alliance system is very much broken. It also doesnt look like its very high on MM's list of things to finish, i could be wrong on that point, but it doesnt look like it >_
