Balance Mod and colonisation |

Just installed BM 1.08 and started a new game. A problem I have experienced is I am now colonisiing some planets with no population... this didn't seem to happen in the one standard game I have so far played. I realise I have to load populations when the colony ship is made but it seems I didn't have to do that in the standard game. Did the standard game load populations for me (I know this does happen as part of a "colonise" order, when you are above a planet with your own population but I didnt always use the "colonise" order straight away in Standard because I made colony ships with sensors and did some exploring first, but never experienced this zero population problem. Other than that it's a fine game..looking forward to some (hopefully) nastier AI opponents

Re: Balance Mod and colonisation
There's no automatic colonization population from the crew as there is in the stock. So you'd have to manually load population before sending your colony ship to explore.
Using the colonize will always have the colony ship try and pick-up population if it can - in the mod or stock.
The purpose for this was to avoid a previous(?) annoyance where if you wanted to load a different type of breathing population to take advantage of a planet's atmosphere, you wouldn't end up with a domed colony due to some of the new colony's population coming from your race etc. Someone had reported this was fixed, but I haven't confirmed it yet. If it is, then I will add back the auto-colonization value.
If this isn't an issue for you, you can always edit the "Automatic Colonization Population" in settings.txt to 1.
