Noob Question |
I just got this wonderful game. And as i started the game last night i picked the no warp points option. Now i have a little problem getting out of the system. In the manual it says i wont be able to do that till i reserch warp opening something.
So my question is. What type of engines do i need to reserch. Im on quantum right now. level 6 or something.
Thanx in advance

Re: Noob Question
Also the AI don't know how to use stellar manipulation techs right now, so even if you gave all techs to all players it wouldn't really work, sorry.
Re: Noob Question
I played one of those games and ended up winning because by the time i got that tech i could just destroy the ai's systems with a nebula or a dark hole.
Re: Noob Question
The AI cant cope with this option in stock and most Mods as it doesnt do Stelar manipulation. I understand BM1.108 will do this but its a good option if you want a long multiolayer game in a small quadrent.

but thanx
Re: Noob Question
Unless you play on full tech, you should really not check this option. The warp points opener (Gravitational Quantum Resonator) is under stellar manipulation lvl 35 and so is horribly expensive to get: 6.080.000 research points with pre-requisites in stock with normal tech costs.
You probably should restart a new game.
Also don't play the unmodded game in single player: the AI is brainless.
For instance use balance mod with "Hard" AI with at least low bonus.
If you want to play a default race with special game settings
- either save it, then edit it using the password "master" to remove the colonisation tech using excess research points
- or remake a quick game after starting a normal game without exiting Space Empires completely in between: the quck game will use the last normal game parameters)
PS: Isn't it time for a sticky FAQ (or a sticky link to a wiki FAQ) with the most common asked questions, and some advice on how to not make a mistake like this when starting your first game?
