Deploying Weapon Platforms |
How do you deploy Weapon Platforms in the SEV demo? I have seen people talking about loading them in to transport and then droping them off at a location. I have tried doing that by putting them in transport then trying every empty cargo button I can find. But none of them are working.

WPs on planets only not space...
Just a reminder that weapon platforms in Space Empires are planet bound and not space bound like certain Sci-Fi shows.

Space bound weapon platforms
Space bound weapon platforms are satellites
And without added range, WPs aren't that useful, so gotta wait till that's fixed (probably already in one of the patches, but I didn't see it)

With all these people, you would expect one of them to carry an iguana around...
Missiles
In the demo I research the heck out of missiles. This will give your WPs the range they need. Beware though that, when compared to SEIV, missiles are weaker in SEV and ships have more damage points, so you will need to at least double up on WPs. On the plus side Point Defense is next to useless so most of the missiles will hit even if the enemy is mounting PDCs. I expect patches to change some of this so strategies will have to be modified as time goes on.

I wonder...
Do you know if missiles do less impact damage if they've been shot by Point Defense... or could it be modded in perhaps (leaky Point Defense anyone?)
Does that even seem logical?

Logical
I'm not sure that that would be logical. Either the missile hits the warhead detonates and the damage is done or not. I guess you could have a 'wounded' missile do some nominal damage if you assume the warhead was damaged and doesn't go off. I think implimenting a mod here might be pretty difficult because you would realistically have to determine what type of damage was done to the missile. Areas to consider could be propulsion (it slows down), guidance (it might miss) or warhead (it dosen't go off).

Sounds like a job for drones!

Game over, boys!

Dropping
You drop them off exactly how you put them in, except in reverse. The transport has to be over its destination planet.
Alternatively you can use the "drop cargo remotely" order, which is under Cargo Orders. Not sure if it has an entry for Weapon Platforms, though.
